Everyone wakes up in a very clean, relatively small, tidy room alone. At first there was silence, before the buzz of a speaker is heard. Someone is speaking. "Welcome, [name], you have been picked to join a social experiment called Project Patchwork, this first test is individual only, it is simply to test your abilities when put in a neutral universe. After completing, you will be released into the main zone."

While the name was the right one, it seemed disconnected from the rest of the sentence, as if edited in. Likely was. A door that had been invisible against the wall before slides open, revealing an obstacle course in a larger room. "Do not worry, we have designed the course so that it is impossible to receive a real injury. Failing at staying safe may give you a simulated injury, however, so avoid ignoring common sense."

  • The only way to 'escape' the first test is to complete it, no cheating.
  • Characters may not share a course.
  • The size of the room is relative to the character so that big or small characters do not have problems in the course.

((See top of page for intro, I shall wait cuz I have too many characters))

---Pink Freddy---

Isaac laid on the ground for, taking a moment to realize he was somewhere unfamiliar. After the realization struck him, he pushed himself up, looking around this new place. He looked up when he heard a voice from above. A look of fear crossed his face, then confusion as the voice went on. He turned his head when the door opened. He walked through, wondering how'd he get here, but wasn't questioning it as much as he probably should have.

---

Jeremy sprang up as soon as he realized he was not laying down in his bed. He wonders where he was. Was he kidnapped!? By who- A voice started to speak from a speaker. His eyes flashed around the room and he turned his head quickly as the voice continued. When the voice stopped, he looked back to the speaker. "Where am I!?" he yelled, feeling confused, and afraid of how he had gotten here, and what may happen. As if to respond, a door opened, and the voice continued. Nervous, he made his way over to the opening, and peeked through to find the obstacle course. He seemed hesitant. "Where am I!?!" he asked again, a little louder this time.

---MixieRoast---

Tamatoa groaned as he pushed himself shakily to his feet, using his gargantuan claws as leverage. "Bloody heck man..." He quickly checked his back to insure none of his precious treasures had been stolen - good, still in place. The speaker rang out above him.

"Welcome, [Tamatoa of Lalotai], you have been picked to join a social experiment called Project Patchwork, this first test is individual only, it is simply to test your abilities when put in a neutral universe. After completing, you will be released into the main zone."

".... Ey, man, is this some sorta sick joke! How dare you!" He waved threateningly at the speaker, when the door slid open in front of him. He stumbled over, sticking his head through to check the path ahead.

---Candlefly---

A little ghost woke up... In a place he'd never seen before. Instantly on red alert, the ghost was up and flying around in a little circle while looking around. And then The Lost heard a voice from above.

"Welcome, [The Lost], you have been picked to join a social experiment called Project Patchwork, this first test is individual only, it is simply to test your abilities when put in a neutral universe. After completing, you will be released into the main zone."

The Lost was suddenly really annoyed. "What the [****] is going on here?!" He flinched when the door opened, and simply decided to go though.

The course was a little like one from a game, and had a few different paths. The left one to test strength, the right one to test puzzle solving skills, and the middle to test dexterity and reaction time. The point was that people would likely choose what they are best at.

"Do not worry, we have designed the course so that it is impossible to receive a real injury. Failing at staying safe may give you a simulated injury, however, so avoid ignoring common sense."

"SO WILL I GET A SIMULATED DEATH IF I'M HIT BY SOMETHING THEN?!" The ghost shouted, not proceeding yet.

---

Eden woke up, instantly noticing they're not in the basement. Or cellar. And nothing's on fire. The sit up and rub their hand along the floor, noticing they didn't even pick up dust. What a big change from the unsanitariness they had gotten used to.

"Welcome, [Eden], you have been picked to join a social experiment called Project Patchwork, this first test is individual only, it is simply to test your abilities when put in a neutral universe. After completing, you will be released into the main zone."

The main zone? A very curious but quiet Eden looks up and attempts to find where the voice is from, and then they see the door slide open. They walk into the next room and see the course, tilting their head.

"Do not worry, we have designed the course so that it is impossible to receive a real injury. Failing at staying safe may give you a simulated injury, however, so avoid ignoring common sense."

Eden looked up again, they want to know where the voice is from.

---

Frisk woke up, but they keep their eyes squinted to the point they look closed. The extremely calmly sit up, this isn't the first time they woke up somewhere unfamiliar.

"Welcome, [Frisk], you have been picked to join a social experiment called Project Patchwork, this first test is individual only, it is simply to test your abilities when put in a neutral universe. After completing, you will be released into the main zone."

Socal. More people. Frisk has no change of expression but they get up, are they making new friends today? The doors slide open and Frisk walks into the next area without hesitation.

"Do not worry, we have designed the course so that it is impossible to receive a real injury. Failing at staying safe may give you a simulated injury, however, so avoid ignoring common sense."

As the voice said that, Frisk saw the puzzle branch and walked over there.

This might not be so bad.

---

Chara didn't take it as well as Frisk did and has somehow gotten into an argument with an automatic message, and is yelling at the voice now despite the person no longer 'responding'. Candlefly is tired of typing paragraphs.

---Pink Freddy---

Isaac looked forward to the path that happened to be the dexterity and reaction time path. It didn't look like much was happening there, so he stepped towards it. As he did, he looked above again.

---

"WHERE AM I?!!" The lack or response was frustrating, and only putting Jeremy more on edge. "WHO ARE YOU!!?!" He doesn't seem to be moving forward.

---MixieRoast---

"Hmrph..... I don't like the look of this...." He carefully edged forwards a little, looking between the strength and reaction time courses, instantly out-ruling the puzzle one. It'd never been his forte, outside of knowledge on treasures. He ended up going for strength, though he was being cautious.

---Candlefly---

Jeremy hears a buzzer noise before the back of the room reveals a panel. And then Jeremy is shoved out of the room by said large spring loaded panel. Maybe that's a sign he needs to get a move on.

---

Webber wakes up. Somewhere unknown. Again.

"Welcome, [Webber], you have been picked to join a social experiment called Project Patchwork, this first test is individual only, it is simply to test your abilities when put in a neutral universe. After completing, you will be released into the main zone."

Webber has a feeling that they're dealing with another jerk. "Where are we now?" He squeaks.

He doesn't go through the door when it opens.

---

Ed always knew this would happen, he got abducted! While thinking about what the mutant brain eating aliens must look like he heard the speaker.

"Welcome, [Ed], you have been picked to join a social experiment called Project Patchwork, this first test is individual only, it is simply to test your abilities when put in a neutral universe. After completing, you will be released into the main zone."

"INVISIBLE mutant brain eating aliens!" Ed said out loud, continuing his thought train. Then he realised something and sat up. "Eddy? Double D?"

The door opened and Ed rushed though. "Guys I-" Edd and Eddy weren't there. "Oh"

"Do not worry, we have designed the course so that it is impossible to receive a real injury. Failing at staying safe may give you a simulated injury, however, so avoid ignoring common sense."

"Wha?" Ed looked around before deciding to look in the strength branch for his friends.

The first obstacle for strength is a simple wall of heavy blocks, while it might 'hurt' if one falls on a character, the main goal is to take it down in some way and the blocks are not stuck together.

Ed walked right through it. "Eddy? Double D? Where did you go?"

---

((I'm doing another Chara here to even my turns to '3 per turn'))

Chara got tired of arguing and walked on, looking between all the courses. They were tempted by the strength one but they decided to do the reaction time one instead.

The very first obstacle of the reaction time branch is a small hall, stepping on a pressure plate at the start makes a foam log swing from the ceiling, and it needs to be ducked under.

Since Chara was distracted and ranty, they're smacked right in the face and fall back out of the branch and on their back. The obstacle resets and they duck under it the second time.

---

((Since Frisk isn't taking their turn yet I'll go ahead and say the first puzzle obstacle))

The First puzzle obstacle is a simple 'connect the lights' game, you cannot have any of the lines cross. There are two green lights, two blue lights, and two red lights placed in such a way that you need to think before 'drawing' a line via a touchscreen. The rules of the puzzle are listed above it, and when solved a door opens to the next one.

---MixieRoast---

Tama glared at the heavy wall in front of him. "This an insult or sompthin??" He backed up, angling himself a little so his shell and claw would be hitting the wall, on his stronger side, before charging forwards and smashing into it. He used this tactic a lot just to do... 'interior design' as humans would call it, and it often smashes through rock with little to no effort.

---Pink Freddy---

Isaac peeked down the hallway. Seemed simple enough. He started to amble towards the other end, resulting in him stepping on the pressure plate. "!!" As the log came flying towards the kid, he threw himself forward, barley missing the log that zoomed above him.

What were these tests for, he wondered. Is it a test to see if... he's worthy of entry to somewhere? He continued crawling down the hall, unsure if any other logs may swing towards him.

---

"Wh- aaaAAAA- MPH-" After a brief moment of confusion, Jeremy was flung by the spring and successfully crashed into the ground. Surprisingly unhurt, Jeremy quickly rose to his feet. It has gotten across to him that he wasn't going to get answers right then. Doesn't mean he's going to cooperate in being some sort of test mouse, as he pondered what this might be.

---Candlefly---

The Lost does not want to proceed at all and tries to go back into the room, just to get a springboard to the face. He's flung a whole lot farther than Jeremy had by this and actually skips an obstacle of the dexterity course due to this. "MOTHER ****ER."

The second Reaction/Dexterity obstacle you are given a shield too small to cover the character fully and they must get down a hall while foam darts (looking pretty realistic) are shot at the character. While there is nothing stopping a character from just running down the hall, a counter records the number of hits.

---

Eden silently looked at the three branches and tried strength first, struggling to push a block down. They then run into the dexterity one and get knocked back out. This Eden is frail and they get a false owie on their elbow. They go to the puzzle one next and attempt to draw though the puzzle a few times.

---

Frisk finishes the puzzle and moves forward.

The second puzzle was built into the next door, it's a sliding tile puzzle that will create the shape of a circle when solved. The finished image is above it on the door.

Frisk is already working on it.

---

((Since no one this turn got to the next strength puzzle here's this))

The second strength obstacle is very simple. It's a really heavy door. It feels heavier the farther you lift it up. The door has hand holds on the bottom of it, you need to lift it up, but it will quickly fall back down. The blocks from the last obstacle can jam the door open or if a character's strong enough they may be able to keep the door up. If a character gets stuck under the door they will get sent back to the start with a fake injury.

---Pink Freddy---

Isaac moved to the next room and found the shield. He was unsure what to do with a shield, he hadn't figured out that there were darts ahead, so he rolled the D6 in hopes to change it into something 'more useful'.

---Candlefly---

((I'll give an item so you can continue :3))

Isaac now has a 6 petaled yellow flower with sticky seeds instead of a shield. He'll regret that in a second.

---Pink Freddy---

Isaac picked up the flower gingerly. He gently brushed one of the petals with a finger. He felt that he can't be trusted with this small, fragile plant, and carried it carefully while he walked forward. He didn't see the first dart to fly towards him, as he watched the flower intensely. The dart hit him right in the noggin.

---

Jeremy, meanwhile, was refusing to move on. He looked as far as he could through each path without going forward.

---Candlefly---

Ed tries to fling the door open but noticed it shut really fast. He lifts it up and decides to just walk under it. Cartoon characters with super strength are not easily stopped.

The last strength obstacle is a hall with an object that feels heavier as you go down it, becoming extremely heavy by the end. There are equally spaced slots there looks like the object can be put in, and inserting the object will open the door and give a prize according to how far the character gets. There is a sign that tells characters to try to get the object as far as possible before putting it in a slot.

Ed, not understanding what to do, runs up and down the hall before picking up the 'key'. He runs down the hall again but near the end he almost falls over after realising the item is HEAVY. He pulls it back up and puts it in a slot to put it to the side, and a panel on the wall opens. Inside is a backpack with various items in it. ((I'll start defining what items Ed has on his page))

---

Webber still won't move. He ends up ejected from the starting room.

---

Chara grabs the shield and goes into the next obstacle, blocking the first dart, and realising the shield is a bit small. They're trying to block everything now but the counter still ends up going up slightly. Then Chara noticed they were foam and just went 'screw it' and charged down the hall to the final part.

The final dexterity one is optional but it is basically a moving platform that the character will have to duck around increasingly hard to avoid obstacles. The character receives a backpack of goodies if they reach the end and if they fall off the platform they literally fall back to the start with a consolation prize (All the obstacles would be disabled so you don't have to start over) There is a separate non-moving path the character can walk to not get anything. There is a sign that tells characters about the prize for going in.

((I'll give puzzle's final one when Frisk gets to it cuz they're the one doing puzzles))

---MixieRoast---

Tama muttered angrily at the door. Really? A door to keep him, king of the monster realm, at bay? Pathetic. He started lifting it up, surprised when it got heavy, once he hauled it open enough he skuttled through, limbs shaking, letting it drop down and letting himself ley down for a second, antennae flat on the floor. Man, that was hard. He muttered some form of abuse at the speaker before shakily pushing himself up again, grabbing his balance - It was hard ya know, with a missing leg and all - and then lookign around the next area.

"Ergh, what's this? Carry an object down a hallway?? How weak do they think I am..." He hauled it up, placing it on his shell, before starting to walk down the hall.... as it got heavier, he started grunting and lowering slightly, until he eventually got to the point he was dragging himself along on the bottom of his shell, using the holes in the walls to drag himself along with his incredible grip. When he was finally weighed down so much he couldn't pull himself along, he got up with a final burst of strength and put the object on one of the sockets, before laying down again and panting.

---Pink Freddy---

Isaac held a hand to his head, expecting blood to be dripping out of a hole in his head. But there was nothing, the pain was simulated. Worry began to build. Why was there no blood?? The boy clutched the flower to his chest and sprinted down the hall. Darts whizzed towards him as he ran. Some of them he outran, but as they started to shoot closer, he had to attempt to dodge them by leaning as he ran, or jumping out of the way. He was able to dodge a lot of them, but the closer he drew to the end, more darts hit him directly, causing a handful to hit their target: Isaac. Once the boy reached the end of the hall, he stopped to catch his breath and check on the flower. It looked to be unharmed. A small smile crept on his face.

---

Jeremy was searching along the walls, without going down any of the paths. Maybe he'll find a loose tile or something? ...Likely not.

---Candlefly---

Isaac had the first sign someone was actually watching. The 'hit' meter on the dart course reset to 0 with a little picture of a flower to the side. Looks like they see Isaac's ability to escort the flower as worthy of mentioning.

---

Frisk slid the last tile into place and the door opened. Great! They walked into the next room and noticed it was quite large with a checkerboard of tiles.

The last puzzle in the puzzle route is a large room (that shouldn't be very possible considering the placement of the reaction time area) with a checkerboard of tiles. A sign says remember and a 'start' button is placed under it. When the button is pressed, a maze-like path lights up tile by tile showing the way from one side to the other. If the character steps on the wrong tile, all the tiles turn red. The character gets a prize according to how far they get before they mess up.

Frisk hits the button. After remembering the path they start, but step wrong half way across. They decide to try again but they only get a searing pain from their right arm, making the kid flinch and cover the area with their other hand. At the end of the room a panel opens up offering a backpack but Frisk is busy recovering.

---

The Lost picks up the shield and decides he might need that. Moving forward, he sees a dart fly at him and blocks. The ghost, not believing he can't be killed here, desperately weaved and blocked down the hall. Not one dart hit, the ghost had gotten very good at this to not die. Seeing the third puzzle, the ghost chickens out and takes the safe path, gaining nothing.

After finishing the third obstacle and leaving, all 3 paths (although you only see the path you came from) lead to a room with a training dummy familiar to the media that the character is from. The speaker returns for this room. "One final test before you go, hit the dummy as hard as you can. This is to test damage potential, please use any means you have to try to damage it."

The ghost noticed his is a punching bag familiar, although the creature seems to not be 'there', just a model. He decided 'why not' and cried at it a bit until it fell over.

---

Eden decides to try the reaction time course again and dodged the 'log' this time before wandering on. They pick up the shield and inspect it before moving forward, just to be hit in the face with a test dart. They run crying down the hall getting hit by more darts, not thinking to block. Needless to say they got a pretty high hit number.

---Pink Freddy---

Isaac looked up at the meter. He wondered what it could mean. He looks back down at the flower, and walked into the next room.

D6 charge: 1/6

The boy spotted the sign as he entered. "A prize?" Oh boy, he liked prizes! Except bad prizes. Maybe this one won't be a bad prize? He stepped on the platform, and it began to move. He was able to dodge the early incoming, but the farther he progress, the he found it more difficult to stay on the platform. A little after 3/4ths ways towards the end, the boy fell off.

---

Jeremy couldn't find anything. By this point, he had given up in finding anything here, and had only one way to go: forwards. He went down the middle path.

---Candlefly---

Chara gets a burning sensation on their left arm for some reason and that distracts them. After a second of focusing on that, they decide to try the platform. Due to being distracted, they fail quickly, much to their anger.

---

Webber gets up and looks around. Where should he go now?

---

Ed runs down and gets to the room with the training dummy made of wood, cardboard, and pillows, kinda like one the edds might build.

"One final test before you go, hit the dummy as hard as you can. This is to test damage potential, please use any means you have to try to damage it."

"Ok!" Ed punches the dummy hard enough to snap the plank in half and spread feathers all over the room. "Oh no, I broke it!"
